Brian Bowles stunned the 135 lbs. champion Miguel Torres stopping the champion for the first time in his career and Dominick Cruz was impressive taking victory from the Urijah Faber trained Joseph Benavidez via unanimous decision in the fight of the night.

Mike Brown defeated Urijah Faber for the second consecutive time and may have a challenger in Jose Aldo who also won impressively over Cub Swanson in WEC action. The full results.

The WEC made official what everyone knew would happen the minute Urijah Faber lost to Mike Brown – and the rematch is set for Sacramento, California on Sunday, June 7.

Mike Brown  dominated his bout with Leonard Garcia en route to defending his 145 lbs. belt against the hard-hitting Leonard Garcia at WEC 39. In other action Jose Aldo climbed another rung in the 145 lbs. ladder with a victory over Chris Mickle, click on for the full results.

The WEC made it official today that they will add a flyweight (125 lbs.) division to the WEC ranks as they dissolve the 170 lbs. division to make way for the lighter division.

In an unusual finish, Jaime Varner retained his title against Donald Cerrone after an unintentional knee to the face on the ground, and Urijah Faber dominated former UFC champion Jens Pulver.

Miguel Torres successfully defended his title against Manny Tapia, Joseph Benavidez moved closer to a future title shot agains the streaking Torres, and more as the WEC came to Las Vegas.

The WEC has completed their upcoming Dec 3 event which will take place at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and it looks like it will be a good one. In fact Zuffa, many MMA pundits feel that the WEC events are as entertaining or more entertaining than their UFC counterparts. Miguel Torres will take on Manny Tapia in the main event and Wagnney Fabian will make his WEC debut against the durable Akitoshi Tamura.

In WEC news, 135 lbs. champion Miguel Torres (34-1) will face the entertaining Manny “The Mangler” Tapia in a title defense on December 3. The recent WEC events have been extremely entertaining and this main event should live up to the hype.

The WEC, owned by Zuffa, the same company as the UFC will be paring down their weight classes to four, and will no longer have middleweight 185 lbs, and light heavyweight 205 lbs fights on their events.
