Lyoto Machida will defend his belt against fellow Brazilian Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 104 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Following a devastating knockout victory over the previously undefeated Rashad Evans, Machida will step in against the former Pride champion in the main event of the UFC's long-awaited return to Southern California.

In semi-main event action two fast-rising heavyweights will clash as Cain Valasquez puts his undefeated record on the line against former IFL heavyweight champion Ben Rothwell. Rothwell was considered one of the better heavyweights outside the UFC until now, as he will make his UFC debut against one of the best up-and-coming heavyweights in the world.

UFC 104 takes place on October 24, 2009 from the Staples Center in L.A.
