They UFC added two middleweight bouts to their first foray into Chicago as Ricardo Almeida will face off against Matt Horwich, and newly minted MW Goran Reljic takes on Thales Leites. Anderson Silva will defend his MW crown against Patrick Cote in the main event.
Ricardo Almeida is coming off a disappointing performance against Patrick Cote, and will face off against IFL veteran Matt Horwich, while the man he lost to fights for the middleweight championship bout. Matt Horwich has had an up and down career of late but has trained with the likes of Randy Couture, Matt Lindland and Dan Henderson and is known for a strong submission game.
Hard-hitting Goran Reljic will make his middleweight debut after an entertaining performance against Wilson Gouveia in May at light heavyweight. He will be cutting down a weight class to fight Thales Leites, who was impressive in his last bout, a win over perennial contender Nate Marquardt.
The winners of these bouts, particularly the Reljic vs. Leites bout could put themselves to within striking distance of a title shot behind Yushin Okami.
