UFC 102 Couture vs. Nogueira Play by Play

Nogueira and Couture trade shots, on the feet and Nogueira flops to guard but Couture stand up out of it and wants nothing to do with the ground. Nogueira gets dropped by a Nogueira right hand and Nogueira drops into the ground and wraps up a Darce choke but Couture survives. Both fighters are swinging for the fences and both fighters are landing and Nogueria looks like he has a cut over his left eye. Couture works the dirty boxing against the cage, and Nogueira looks like he is just holding on for the end of the round. 10-9 Nogueira.

Couture goes to work from behind his jab but Nogueira lands a hook that stunned Couture and the Natural goes for a takedown, fights off a guillotine choke and goes to work on the ground and pound. He is landing some short elbows on the ground but Nogueira fights his way to a reversal right into mount. Couture gets the half guard but Couture is in trouble. Nogueira is mounted and stuck in a arm triangle. Couture escapes but he is still mounted and in trouble. Couture amazingly fights his way bak to the feet from the mount and goes to work on the feet. Coutue lands a nice left hook, Nogueiara lands a leg kick and both fighters are in a dog fight. 10-9 Nogueria.

Couture looks banged up and the more tired of the two. Nogueira drops Couture and fires off a dozen or so hammerfists but Mario Yamasaki doesn't step in to stop the fight but Nogueira moves to side control. Couture is in big trouble pinning him agaisnt the cage. Couture is cut and looks defeated on the ground. Couture tries to get back to his feet and Nogueira has the back of Couture and works for a choke. Couture amazingly gets out of there again and goes to work from the ground and pound. With only one minute left it looks like Couture will lose a decision. Rodrigo Nogueira takes the Unanimous Decision after three rounds.

Jardine comes out aggresive firing a combination and lands a nice leg kick. Jardine lands a body kick and slips, and Silva goes onto the ground and goes to work on the ground. Jardine pulls off a nice sweep and gets back to his feet and Silva goes back to walking him down. Thiago Silva lands a left hook that drops Jardine, and Silva jumps and and dropped a couple of more punches that had Jardine out and Herb Dean jumps in to save him at 1:35 of round one.

Roshalt lands some nice early leg kicks but both fighters look like there are feeling each other out. Roshalt fires a flying knee that lands but Chris Leben takes the fight to the ground but Roshalt was able to get back to his feet. Roshalt takes the fight to the ground off an upper body tie up and although Chris is abl to get back to his feet he eats punches and knees n his way back up. Interesting round, but it looked to me like Roshalt had the slight advantage. 10-9

Rohshalt lands a nice left hand but Chris Leben takes the punch and lands a left hand of his own after ducking a head kick and takes the fight to the mat. Leben is going to work on the ground but isn't able to do any significant damage and Roshalt is just hanging on for the stand up. Referee Yves Lavigne stands the fight up, and Roshalt works on the legs but Leben fires a head kick that is blocked but follows up with a left hand that gets through. Roshalt fires off a combination and scoops the legs for a takedown. Chris Leben finishes with a flurry. 10-9 Leben

Roshalt gets the fight to the mat and gets the full mount. He lands some very good shots takes the back and took a arm triangle. Leben doesnt tap and gets choked out unconscious. Impressive victory for Leben at 1:20 of round 3.

Nate Marquardt knocks out Demian Maia with a right hand that countered a leg kick and the fight is over at 21 seconds of the first round.

Nice exchanges by both fighters and Simpson eventually grabs a hold of Herman and lifts him into the air and drops a beautifly takedown. Herman is eaing some leg kicks while he is on his back, but Herman lands some nice leg kicks that wobbled him. Simpson fires off a three-punch combination that lands and drops him. Simpson goes right to the ground and and drops some bombs on Herman who is in major trouble. Herman gets back to his feet and lands a nice punch but gets punched and taken down again and on his way to the ground he looks like he hurt his left knee. He screamed and grabbed his left knee and limped to his corner but still came out for the second round.

Rd 2

Herman goes for a right body kick and in the midst of a kick his knee pops out fell to the mat before Lavigne stepped in to stop the fight at 17 second of round 2.

Todd Duffee gets the fastest knockout in history landed a left jab on the chin that dropped Hague and followed up with three or four punches and a left hand knocked Hague out cold. Duffee wins in seven seconds.
