The Ultimate Fighter 10 kicked off the second season of
heavyweights with the original winner of the inaugural heavyweight season
Rashad Evans taking over the reins as a coach for one of the teams against
competing coach Quinton Jackson.
Team Rashads assistant coaches are Evans real-life coach
Greg Jackson, wrestling coach Mike Van Arsdale, and boxing coach Trevor
Team Jacksons assistant coaches include his training
partners Tiki Ghoson, and Hector Ramirez.
At the coin toss Rashad Evans chose to pick first instead of
picking the first two fights and took Tim McSweeny first while Rampage took
Kimbo Slice second overall, and in the end the teams were divided as follows.
Team Rashad Evans
Team Quinton Jackson
In the first fight of the new season Jackson chooses Abe
Wagner to take on Jon Madsen in a choice that turns out to be a big mistake.
Madsen, who trains with Robbie Lawler and Matt Hughes uses
his superior wrestling to take the fight to the ground and grind out two rounds
of ground-and-pound to bloody his opponent in what is surely one of the
bloodiest bouts in TUF history. Madsen takes the two-round decision and moves
on to the next round.
Jackson becomes frustrated with Wagner who is either unable
or unwilling to listen to his corner instructions and walks out of the room
with about thirty seconds to go in the fight.
Next week, more trash-talking, Jackson chooses fight number
two, even more heated trash-talking.
