According to the UFC website, young Canadian Sam Hands of Stone Stout will be making his way back to the Octagon to face Terry Etim at UFC 89 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. Both Stout and Etim are coming of losses to Rich Clementi so it seems appropriate that both will face each other in a showdown to determine who will move on in the division, and who will be left behind.
Sam Stout has been in two memorable wars with Spencer Fisher and has losses to Clementi, Spencer Fisher, and Kenny Florian in the UFC. Etim has two consecutive losses to his name, one to the aforementioned Clementi and the other to Gleison Tibau, they are the only losses on his record. Etim can ill afford to make it three losses so with both fighters coming off losses and with their backs against the wall it looks to be a strong matchup.
In other action news, Per Eklund, who lost to Sam Stout in the UFC debut, will face off against relative unknown Samy Shiavo. UFC 89 is scheduled for October 18. The tentative card is as follows.
Micheal Bisping vs. Chris Leben
Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Alves
Keith Jardine vs. Brandon Vera
Rameau Sokoudjou vs. Luis Cane
Paul Taylor vs. Chris Lytle
Paul Kelly vs. Marcus Davis
Dan Hardy vs. Akihiro Gono
Shane Carwin vs. Neil Wain
Jess Liaudin vs. David Bielkhedin
Sam Stout vs. Terry Etim
Per Eklund vs. Samy Shiavo
