Jason The Athlete MacDonald will face off against Jason The Punisher Lambert as he replaces the injured Jason Day at UFC 88 on the undercard of Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans. MacDonald is coming off a loss to Demian Maia at UFC 87 and will fight in consecutive UFCs, a rarity for UFC fighters, and will be looking for redemption against the equally experienced Lambert.
Jason Day injured his elbow and may require surgery to repair it so a return date for the Lethbridge Native is unknown at this time. He was originally scheduled to take the fight but his fellow countryman took the fight when his elbow forced him out of action.
MacDonald, a former prison guard, is a 7-time UFC veteran with a record of 4-3 in the Octagon, an identical mark to his opponent Lambert who has exactly the same UFC stats as that of The Athlete.
In other news, the UFC website also announced that James Lee has been forced out of his bout with Tim Boetsch due to injury and Michael Patt has stepped in to fill the void. The event will take place at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 6.
