The winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” in the light heavyweight class will be in action at UFC 53 against a man that is considered by most to be the best Light Heavyweight in Canada, Bill “The Butcher” Mahood. Forrest Griffen is coming off of consecutive victories over Sam Hoger and Stephan Bonner on the T.V highlighted by the latter bout which took place on the final episode of the TV show and is considered to be one of the greatest fights in UFC history. Before his two wins he was at a crossroads of sorts, and in semi retirement until he got the call to be on the show.

Bill The Butcher Mahood will be making his UFC debut. His last bout was against 2 time UFC veteran Patrick Cote in a fight that he lost by KO in one of only two losses on his record. He has wins over AFC light heavyweight champion Jason MacDonald, Team Extreme member Tom Sauer as well as tough Australian and UFC veteran Chris Haseman. Mr. Mahood spoke with MMA Ring Report’s Arnold “The Sushiboy” Lim and had this to say about his opponent. “I think he [Forrest Griffin] is really tough he comes to fight and that is going to make for a real exciting match-up up because I think my style matches up with his style real well.”

The new father of a newborn baby boy feels jis big opportunity is not lost on him and in closing he told us, “I am absolutely incredible excited about it. [Fighting in the UFC] It is something that I set my goals towards when I started MMA. Every fighter wants to fight in the UFC. The UFC is the original, it is the grand daddy of them all .And in my first fight to be put in against “The Ultimate Fighter” champion it is a dream come true. Especially because I was supposed to be on “The Ultimate Fighter show so I should be “The Ultimate Fighter” champion anyways.” The fight takes place on June 4th in New Jersey at UFC 53. -MMARR-
