 MMA Ring Report has amasses the thoughts and predictions of some of the top fighters in the world regarding the upcoming showdown between Chuck Liddell and Jeremy Horn. See what fighters and trainers such as Pat Miletich, Tito Ortiz, Phil Baroni, Guy Mezger, Josh Koscheck, Chris Leben, Mike Swick, and much more have to say about the big fight that will be the main event of UFC 54 in Las Vegas Nevada on August 20th. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pat Miletich: Obviously Chuck is a very tough guy and he has paid his dues to become champion but everyone at my camp knows Jeremy and we have seen him fight hundreds of times, and we feel like Jeremy is just technically too sound for him and we know how hard Horn has worked for this fight and what kind of shape he is in right now so I really foresee Horn, probably in three rounds. MMARR: Is this the hardest that you have ever seen Horn train? Pat Miletich: I know the guys that are out there working with him, and there are a lot of great people working with him and helping him and I know he has got a great dietitian with him in Billy [Rush] who is doing his strength and conditioning as well MMARR: Also with Rich Franklin as well… Pat Miletich: Yeah, Rich Franklin and Matt Hughes is going out there to help him get ready, so he has plenty of tough guys helping him to get ready, he is really firing on all cylinders, and I spoke to him just the other day, he is very confident, he not only wants to beat Chuck, but he really wants to put it on him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phil Baroni: Chuck is my boy, and I like Jeremy too you know, I think Horn is down at 185, so it is a 185 pounder vs. a 205 pounder and the bigger guy usually wins. We will see, Jeremy can always pull something out of his bag of tricks, you know he has waited a long time for this opportunity so, it is a big fight you know, it is a big fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Serra: Man that is so tough to pick because... it is so tough, I know people probably say that all the time. I know them both personally, they are such great guys. Chuck is so hard to beat right now because his confidence has to be booming because of his latest victories. Jeremy Horn always finds a way to win. It is amazing, his composure in there, he is so relaxed and so chill in there. I think that Horn is going to be able to pull it out, but those guys are both great man and such fucking great guys for the sport I think it is going to be a fantastic fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Referee “Big†John McCarthy: It is going to be great fight that is my predicition! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Rogan: You know I don’t have a prediction other then that it is going to be a great fight. There is so many different possibilities, in that fight. It really depends on Jeremy Horn’s strategy, he is the more unpredictable fighter, his style is a little broader. Chuck Liddell, everyone knows what he is going to do. He is going to stand up and he is going to throw bombs. It is going to be fascinating, it is going to be a great fight. MMARR: If you had to bet on one guy Joe Rogan: I wouldn’t even know where to begin, and even if I did, I probably shouldn’t say because I am a commentator. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy Mezger: You know at this point now, as long as he is not looking past Jeremy is a very, very tough guy, I know, he knocked me out, that is the hardest I have every been hit in my entire life. That being said I expect Chuck to win on that, but I also know Jeremy Horn has an unbelievable way of pulling it out so you can never discount him. They playfully call him “Gumby†because and I think it is because he gets himself of impossible situations, and this may be one of those things that works for him. Jeremy is a no quit fighter against probably pound for pound one of the toughest light heavyweights to strap on the gloves, it should make for an interesting match. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chris Brennan: I like both fighters a lot I think that Jeremy is just unbelievably well rounded, I was in his corner the first time he beat Chuck, Me and Pat [Miletich] were. I believe that he will beat him again. MMARR: Do you have a round for me then? Chris Brennan: Probably not past 3, I think that if he puts Chuck on his back at all during the fight and can hold him there for more then a minute he will win the fight whatever round that happens and I believe by the third round he will finish him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Josh Koscheck: I definitely think that Chuck Liddell is going to take Jeremy Horn out, I think he is going to take him out by knockout and I think Chuck is just in his game right now he is just in his prime and I don’t think that anyone can stop him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chris Leben: Well Jeremy is going to have to take him down and submit him if he wants to win. I think that is a tall order. I mean I think he can do it if he plays the best game he can but if I had to bet I would put my money on Chuck. MMARR: Randy Couture is going to be facing Mike Van Arsdale, he [Couture] is obviously your trainer what are your thoughts on that fight. Chris Leben: You know I really haven’t seen too much of Van Arsdale, I know that he is a real solid wrestler, I don’t know that he is in the same league that Randy is though. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sam Hoger: Horn trains with the best camp in the world… -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Swick: Chuck Liddell I think, Chuck is my boy, he has got awesome strikes, he is a stand up fighter, I gotta go with him he is what the crowd wants to see I hope he wins by knockout.-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tito Ortiz: I know it is going to be a really exciting fight. If Jeremy Horn comes in with an "A" game Jeremy Horn has a chance of submitting him. If Chuck Liddell thinks he is going to walk through Jeremy Horn, Jeremy Horn is going to beat him. Chuck Liddell takes his time and really use his championship attitude to win the match he can do it. It is just a factor of him coming in with an "A" game. Chuck Liddell is a really tough Fighter he is one of the best fighters in the world right now he has paid his dues, he has beaten everyone in the top of the world, he came in and beat Vitor Belfort, he has beaten Randy Couture, he has beaten myself, I mean he has beaten a lot of great guys and it seems like the more he works the more dangerous he is. I just hope the championship belt doesn’t get to his head and he starts slacking on it cause I see a lot of champions who do that. They start seeing the stargazing the celebrity and they totally forget what brought them there. -MMARR- |
