1st LHW fight Jesse Forbes vs. Josh Haynes Jesses been given a second chance, and initially he looks as though hes going to make good on it. Hes successful taking Josh down, controlling his back, and continuously works for a rear naked choke but Josh does a good job defending it. Its somewhat surprising though that Jesse doesnt attempt to soften up Josh by throwing some punches that would have forced Josh to try and defend against them in hopes that would ease the attempt to sink in the submission. Nonetheless, at the conclusion of the round its apparent Jesse easily gets the nod in the judges eyes, but it looks like he might have utilized most of his gas tank in the opening frame. Maybe due to sheer exhaustion, Jesse starts the 2nd round by shooting right in for a takedown, and leaves his neck wide open in the process. Josh capitalizes on the opening and quickly locks in a guillotine that forces Jesse to tap out. Josh advances to the finals, and will be back in Las Vegas on June 24th to compete for the UFC LHW contract. 2nd LHW fight Michael Bisping vs. Ross Pointon This is actually a rematch, both fighters met about a year ago in Cage Warriors Fighting Championships, where Bisping won via armbar at the 2:00 mark of the 1st round. Both Bisping and Pointon have a little fun reciting their own thoughts for how the 1st encounter really went down but regardless of even having fought previously, Bisping is a sold favourite heading into the final match of the season. Pointon is a brawler and essentially only has a punchers chance, so hes hoping hell catch Bisping coming in too aggressive and drop him. That strategy almost played out too, as Michael and Ross engaged in some striking at the beginning of the fight and Pointon caught Michael flush with a right hand. Bisping was definitely staggered but he was able to shake it off and ensure he didnt leave himself vulnerable again. Shortly thereafter, a flying knee signalled the beginning of the end for Ross, as he was clearly dazed and Michael unleashed a barrage of strikes along the cage, at which point John McCarthy stepped in and waved off the fight. Michael gave his props to Ross, as he mentioned his fellow Brit was the only person willing to step up and replace the injured Matt Hamill. Michael now moves on and will battle his teammate from the show, Josh Haynes June 24th for a UFC contract. Miscellaneous At the shows conclusion Dana White mentioned he felt Tito Ortiz did a much better job training and preparing his team over the 6 weeks of competition then Ken Shamrock. White even went as far to suggest Ken was only interested in coming on the show so he would get his long awaited rematch against Tito, and sure enough, before the season could come to a close Ken and Tito had one last jawing session, whereby Ken is still longing for Tito to show him some respect and Titos claiming hell be retiring Ken once and for all on July 8th.
