Josh Koscheck has gotten the call to step in on short notice and take on Thiago Alves in the semi main event of UFC 90. Diego Sanchez injured himself in training according to the UFC website, and Alves will instead face off against the wrestling acumen of AKA produce Josh Koscheck. "Torn Rib Cartilage" to "The Nightmare" will keep him out of the highly anticipated bout, and it is unclear at this time how long it will keep him out of action.

Coming off a big victory over fellow wrestling standout Matt Hughes, Alves continues to march his way towards a title match and a win here should cement his shot at GSP. Coming in on short notice, Koscheck will be in tough against the talented American Top Team product but had been training for a bout in December against Yoshida. Both fighters have put together win streaks so the winner of this bout should have himself firmly in line for a title shot.

It is unknown at this time how that bout will be affected by his performance later this month, but barring an injury, both bouts could potentially take place. UFC 90 will take place on October 25, and will be headlined by Patrick Cote taking on Anderson Silva in the first UFC ever in Chicago.
