It has been a bad day for the sport as James Irvin has tested positive for Methadone and Oxymorphone. He could face a possible fine and/or a suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Irvin fought Anderson Silva on July 19 and lost convincingly in the first round.

UFC 89 which will take place in Birmingham, England will be shown on Spike TV for free. The event will be  same-day tape delayed and shown at 9:00 EST from the National Indoor Arena. The main event of Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben was originally scheduled to take place at the last England event but was canceled when Leben ran into legal trouble. 

The UFC made UFC 90 official today with an announcement that it will be headlined with Anderson Silva defending his 185 lbs. belt against hard-hitting Canadian Patrick Cote. The bout will take place at the All State Arena and will be the first UFC in Chicago. 

According to UFC's official website, UFC 88 has now added 4 more bouts to the card including Kurt Pellegrino vs. Thiago Tavares, Ryo Chonan vs. Roan Carneiro, Dong Hyun Kim vs. Matt Brown, and Tim Boetsch vs. James Lee.

The UFC has added three prominant bouts to UFC 88 which features a main event of Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans. Rich Franklin will be moving back to lightheavyweight in a matchup with Matt Hamill, Dan Henderson will take on Rousimar Palhares, and Karo Parisyan will face Yoshiyuki Yoshida.

Anderson Silva more than held his own after moving up a weight class destroying James Irvin in just over a minute of the first round. In other action Brandon Vera decisioned Reese Andy, Frankie Edgar defeated Hermes Franca, Cain Valasquez defeated Jake O' Brian and more.

Jason MacDonald will be returning to the UFC to face off against undefeated Brazilian Demien Maia. Maia is 2-0 in the UFC and is coming off a victory over Ed Herman at the first UFC in Canada.

Forrest Griffin upsets Quinton Jackson, Patrick Cote decisions Ricardo Almeida, Josh Koschek defeats Chris Lytle, Joe Stevenson submits Gleison Tibau, Tyson Griffin wins over Marcus Aurelio and more on a Pay-Per-View that saw four of five fights go to decision.

The UFC will be heading back to the UK again and the main event that they had planned for their previous trip is on again for the upcoming UFC 89 on October 18. Micheal Bisping was originally scheduled to face off against the TUF season 1 alum Chris Leben at UFC “Bedlam” in June...

In the main event Kendall Grove was able to get back on the winning track against the former UFC middleweight champion taking the split decision victory after three rounds. Grove used elbows along the fence, knee’s to the body, and a strong clinch game...

The UFC website announced today that Lorenzo Fertitta, part owner of the UFC, will be making MMA his full time job. “I’ve always been a believer that this was going to be the biggest sport on the planet,” he said. “That’s what our goal is and that’s where we’re taking it.”  

It appears that the fight between Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans is back on again. The bout which was scheduled to take place as the headliner for UFC 85: Bedlam, will now take place in Atlanta instead of England.
