Tim Sylvia has left the UFC and signed with Adrenaline MMA along with training partner Ben Rothwell. Both fighters are managed by Monte Cox and both are now members of the newly formed Adrenaline MMA. Formerly known as M-1 Global, the organization has seen some restructuring but this news does seem to come at the right time with both fighters signing multi fight contracts with the new organization. Coming on the heels of Fedor Emelianenko's departure two solid Heavyweights have come in to help fill the gap and it appears that money was an issue in the departures of both fighters from their respective organizations. |

TIM SYLVIA VS. ANTONIO RODRIGO NOGUEIRA Interim Heavyweight Championship This fight is for the interim heavyweight belt because the “current” heavyweight champ, Randy Couture, declined a championship fight with Minotauro Nogueira. Minotauro is a former PRIDE Heavyweight champion. He owns victories over Mirko Cro Cop, Dan Henderson, Josh Barnett, Bob Sapp, Jeremy Horn and Mark Coleman. Nogueira won his UFC debut against Heath Herring in UFC 73. He faces off against Tim Sylvia, the former UFC Heavyweight champ. Sylvia has won seven of his last eight fights, the last a unanimous decision win over Brandon Vera in UFC 77. Unfortunately the loss was a championship fight against Randy Couture at UFC 68. Nogueira has never been knocked out... |

BJ Penn vs. Joe Stevenson
MMA Ring Report would like to welcome back Mike Doyle who returns with his in depth break down of UFC 80. Doyle will be doing all UFC previews from here on out so look for them everytime a UFC is coming up. Last month, the UFC officially stripped Sean Sherk [32-2-1] of his
lightweight title after the Minnesota native lost his steroid appeal
with the California State Athletic Commission, following a victory over
Hermes Franca last July. Therefore, the main event between BJ Penn and
Joe Stevenson at UFC 80 Rapid Fire in Newcastle, England will now be
for the vacant lightweight title. While this marks Stevensons first
shot at UFC gold, Penn will be making his third bid at claiming the
155-pound strap previously losing to Jens Pulver and battling to a
draw against Caol Uno. |
