According to the UFC website, Georges St. Pierre
has received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Bruno
Fernandes. St. Pierre originally worked with Renzo Gracie and has been
belted under the MMA legend but a fallout following his first bout with
Matt Serra had him look elsewhere for his ground skills.
Starting with their latest endeavor in the UK,
UFC 89 Bisping vs. Leben WOWOW will be telecasting all UFC PPV
events for the next two years. WOWOW will telecast in High Definition
with a limited delay broadcasts.
UFC Fight for the
troops will be headlined by Josh Koscheck taking on Yoshiyuki Yoshida
in Fayettevill, NC, December 10. Following a loss to Georges St.
Pierre, Koscheck has been on a roll defeating Dustin Hazelett and Chris
Lytle. Yoshida has been less busy of late...
Couture vs. Lesnar, predicted to be one of the biggest
events in the history of MMA has just gotten bigger with the addition of three
bouts to the card.
In middleweight action, Amir Sadollah will make his first
official non-TUF appearance against Octagon newbie Nick Catone on the main card
of the telecast. Not much is known about Catone but he is a former Division 1
wrestler and a purple belt in jiu jitsu.
In a press release by the UFC, it was revealed
that TELESPORT one of the largest dedicated sports networks in
Romania, will be a broadcast partner and air the UFCs major live
events.
UFC 91 Couture vs. Lesnar is coming together as the undercard to what
could be one of the biggest events in UFC history is beginning to fill
out. Alvin Robinson will take on Mark Bocek, Dustin Hazelett will face Tamdan McCrory, and as previously reported, Kenny Florian will face Joe Stevenson.
Four bouts have been
added to UFC 90 which will feature a middleweight championship bout
between Patrick Cote and Anderson Silva. Fabricio Werdum vs. Junior dos Santos, Gray Maynard vs. Rich Clementi, Spencer Fisher vs. Shannon Gugerty, and Hermes Franca vs. Marcus Aurelio
According to Tatame.com Demian maia will be
facing Nate Quarry at UFC 91 Couture vs. Lesnar. Maia, who is also
one of Frank Mirs BJJ coaches on TUF season 8 is coming off an
impressive victory over Jason MacDonald at UFC 87.
The UFC will be putting on a second UFC Fight Night event on
a military base and will use it as a charity event to raise money for the event
will be free on Spike TV and proceeds of the event will go to a charity called
the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
The UFC will be putting tickets for UFC 91: Couture vs.
Lesnar on sale now and it is expected that the event will be one of the biggest
in MMA history. In a press release UFC
president Dana White was confident that it will be the case.
TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz secured a split-decision victory over Josh Neer, Eric Schafer defeated Houston Alexander, Clay Guida defeated Mac Danzig and more as the UFC went to Nebraska for the first time ever.
There are some interesting video interviews of deceased former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner that are worth checking out. Tanner passed away of apparent heat exhaustion last week.
Lyoto Machida dropped from UFC 89 which will take place on October without their top light heavyweight contendership bout. First Thiago Silvas injury forced him off the card, and it appears that the bout has been scrapped altogether.
Dana White and Joe Rogan sat down with some of the Marquee
members of the original season of the Ultimate Fighter and will play the
reunion along with a complete season one marathon on Spike TV. A video teaser
