MMA Ring Report had the opportunity to spend some time with Sam Hoger who will be facing Stephan Bonnar at the upcoming Ultimate Fight Night that will be the first full UFC broadcast live and free on Spike TV. Hoger talked about his past housemates and much more...
MMARR: You were on The Ultimate Fighter TV show were locked up on the TV show for 2 months, what was it like to be locked up like that? Sam Hoger: It was an incredibly pressuring situation; it definitely brought out the most frustrating sides of each of us. MMARR: It seemed like there were some people on your team against did that motivate you more or how did that make you feel? SH: It made me feel like this game, that we were playing at least on the T.V show was truly a game in which we had to be focused, and out for ourselves to win. MMARR: So I guess it was kind of like a survivor situation where you did what you had to do to be the last man standing, nothing more nothing less? SH: A lot like that, but at the same time you have to keep in mind you are looking to push the team ahead even though they are out to get you. MMARR: They accused you of taking stuff like that, you said you never took stuff, does that make you feel bad? How does that make you feel? SH: No it makes me feel like they were taking their frustrations out, and I can understand because I kept myself personally detached from it at least in terms of emotions. I focused on playing the game and getting myself as far as I could. If they were feeling bad, that only helped me get further ahead in the end. MMARR: What did you think about your fight with Forrest? SH: I thought it was stopped way to early, but at the same time, I respect john McCarthys decision because he is a professional and he knows what he is doing. MMARR: What is it like training at the Miletich camp. SH: It is incredible, I love training at the Miletich camp. These guys are the best training team to work with. We have Pat [Miletich], Tim [Sylvia], Mike Whitehead, Ben Rothwell, they are incredible. MMARR: So what is next for you, you beat Bobby Southworth, what do you want to do now? SH: Next, I want to go ahead and try to fight in another UFC and try to represent my team well. Ultimate Fight Night takes place at the Cox Pavillion in Las Vegas Nevada and will be shown on Spike T.V on August 6th.
