Josh Thomson out of Strikeforce bout against Gil Melendez with broken leg 

A broken leg has sidelined the Punk Josh Thomson and forced him to withdraw from his lightweight title fight against Gilbert Melendez on Aprill 11 on Strikeforce. According to a press release he was training with Billy Evangelista when he incurred the injury that forced him to withdraw. He released this statement following the news.


“I’m very upset.  All the hard work was done and it was time to fight,” said the injured champ.  “I was looking forward to putting on a great show for the fans.  All I can say is that I’ll be back when I get healthy.” 



Strikeforce will take place on April 11 at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California and air live on Showtime. It will be headlined by Frank Shamrock taking on Nick Diaz.
