Frank Shamrock will be returning to action for the first time since his loss to Cung Le and will face off against Cesar Gracie student Nick Diaz. The news comes on the heels of the announcements that Strikeforce has bought out some of the assets of Elite XC and have also joined forces with Showtime in the process. Their first event which will take place on April 11 will be headlined with a familiar face Frank Shamrock facing off against bad boy Nick Diaz. “My opponent for April 11 is an exciting fighter,” said Shamrock. “He’s a guy who throws, talks trash and on April 11, I’m going to knock him out.” No other fights were announced but the smack talk between the two main event fighters has already begun. In addition to comments directed at his next opponent, Shamrock also had some words for his brother Ken Shamrock and a potential future fight between the two. “It’s a fight I’d always want to do. I think it’s a very compelling story. Ken’s going through some personal and emotional problems right now and we’re letting him do that. But this fight is something that is very personal for me. I think it’s very important that we tell the story of the sport and the Shamrock family and what type of influence the family has had on the sport. I think it’s important that I kick his butt, but right now we’re putting it on the back burner.” |
