Pavia, Dewees' agent, told MMAjunkie.com that his
client today received and signed a bout agreement for the fight.
UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre (16-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC), who
avenged a previous loss and reclaimed the UFC's 170-pound title with a
victory over Matt Serra in April, is a nominee for a 2008 ESPY award.
ESPN today unveiled the list of 37 categories and the corresponding nominees.
St. Pierre is the lone MMA competitor on the list of finalists for the "Best Fighter" category.

learned from sources close to both fighters that bout agreements have been distributed and are expected to be finalized this week.
The state of Tennessee has passed legislation that calls for the
sanctioning of mixed martial arts, which opens the door for the
Ultimate Fighting Championship and other major organizations to host
events in Memphis, Nashville and other cities.

World renowned veteran mixed martial arts (MMA) Elite Trainer and Muay Thai World Champion Fighter, Shawn Tompkins, has signed an agreement to fight for the Xtreme Fighting Association (XFA).

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Soon after defending his Strikeforce world light heavyweight title with Friday's unanimous-decision victory over Anthony Ruiz, Bobby Southworth (9-5) was already looking ahead to future challenges.
Southworth, who avenged a previous non-title-fight loss to Ruiz with the victory, said that he's entering the twilight of his career and wants to fight the division's best before calling it quits.

casualty, as K.O. Dynasty Management confirmed that Vernon "Tiger"
White had been pulled from the event.

the organization now has its sights set on UFC veteran Edwin Dewees
(35-12-0) as a possible replacement to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
(13-3).
"We're interested in Edwin Dewees," Atencio said. "I
haven't had a chance to talk to him, but I know somebody's reaching out
to him, and hopefully that will work out. But we're in talks right now."

EliteXC lightweight Nick Diaz (17-7) will meet former King of the Cage
champion Thomas Denny (26-16) at the next EliteXC-CBS "Saturday Night
Fights" event, which takes place July 26 at Stockton Arena in Stockton,
Calif.
