He's the five-time champ of America's fastest growing sport. His fights sell out arenas and millions of fans in 36 countries worldwide tune in to telecasts weekly and pay top dollar for exclusive pay-per-view events. He's Randy Couture: the Ultimate Fighting Champion. The simple title belies the near inhuman strength it has taken to kick, choke and claw his way to the top of professional fighting. From early days on his high school wrestling team to the Army and Olympics, this Washington native has built a career on years of training--perfecting his signature style referred to as the "ground and pound." Losses on and off the mat take their toll, but also drive Couture to cement his title as "the best fighter of all time."

Similar to what we reported yesterday, former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk will make his official return to action when he takes on standout wrestler and Xtreme Couture member Tyson Griffin at UFC 90: Silva vs. Cote, which will emanate from the Allstate Arena near Chicago on October 25th.
Sources close to the camps of both fighters have revealed that they have agreed to fight according to MMA Weekly. Bout agreements have been sent out to both Sherk and Griffin and are expected to be signed and returned this week.
Sherks lightweight championship reign was cut short last year because of a positive test for steroids under the watch of the California State Athletic Comission. After nearly ten months of inactivity, the Minnesota native returned suffered his first loss since winning the title at the hands of current champion B.J. Penn at UFC 84 back in May.
Meanwhile Griffin has rebounded from suffering his first professional loss to Frankie Edgar last year by winning four straight fights, most recently a unanimous decision over former PRIDE standout Marcus Aurelio at UFC 86 last month. Griffin has also defeated Thiago Tavares, Clay Guida, and Gleison Tibau over the past twelve months. Article

Following his release from the Ultimate Fighting Championship earlier this year, David Heath has signed a multi-fight deal with the Canada-based Maximum Fighting Championship.
The organization announced the signing of Heath in a press release sent out to the media this morning. No indication has been made as of yet by MFC President Mark Pavelich concerning a potential debut date and opponent for him.
After racking up five straight wins in smaller shows, Heath busted onto the UFC light heavyweight scene almost two years ago, winning consecutive over Victor Valimaki and Cory Walmsley. However Heaths quick success earned him matchups against much tougher opponents and the Oklahoma native ended up dropping his next three UFC bouts. He was last stopped by replacement opponent Tim Boetsch at UFC 81: Breaking Point in February before his contract was terminated.
