The Full results as they come in from the Arco Arena, in Sacramento, Urijah Faber retained his title in a war where both fighters put on a great show. In other action Razor Rob McCullough won by unanimous decision over Kenneth Alexander, Mike Brown took a decision over Jeff Curran, and Miguel Torres defeated Yoshihiro Maeda in a fight of the year candidate.

Urijah Faber defeated Jens Pulver by Decision after 5 rounds.

Round 1
The fight is starting fast with Faber running in to close the distance and surprisingly Faber is landing the better strikes. Pulver looks a little confused by the striking of Faber and has slowed down already only one minute into the round. Faber slipped and Pulver surprisingly followed him down to recover. It looked like Faber poked Pulver in the eye and the referee stepped in to give Pulver a few moments but Pulver is fine. Pulver has settled down a little bit and is now landing much better now but surprisingly Faber is coming with combinations and landing them. First round goes to Faber, with Pulver looking somewhat confused after the first round. Faber won the first round 10-9.

Round 2
To start the second round Faber started with a combination and hit him in the groin with a kick to which the referee gives Pulver time to recover. Right off the restart Faber drove in for the takedown and got it against the cage but Pulver shows some skill and got up off the bottom back to his feet. Faber got an awesome combination dropping Pulver to the mat who looked like he was done but he grabbed a single leg to save himself by hanging on. Faber went after him with punches and a flying knee but could not finish him. Surprisingly Pulver was able to tee off and get some good shots in of his own with Faber looking either tired or hurt for a brief period. While Faber was able to get the takedown Pulver got back to his feet again. Faber has not been able to control Pulver on the ground. Round two goes to Faber.

Round 3
Faber’s takedowns have not been able to penetrate the way it was expected it could. His standup looks much sharper than it ever has but it looks like it may have cost him in the wrestling department which Pulver has been able to nullify. Ironically the opposite seems true for Pulver! Pulver lands a good body kick and a left hand that looked like it hurt Faber a little bit and after a smile Faber rushed in for a takedown but was met with a great sprawl by Pulver but Faber eventually took it to the ground. On the ground Faber landed two strong left elbows that looked good abut was stood up after some inactivity. Pulver is moving much slower now. Faber wins the round.

Round 4
The fourth round is slower with Pulver looked a little more weary and Faber looking spry. Faber takes it to the ground, and Is landing some solid shots but he has not dominated the ground game like many people had expected. Pulver’s defense on the ground has been sound hanging on and staying away from taking too much damage, it looked like he took an elbow to the throat near the end of the round. Pulver is hanging on and just trying to protect himself  

Round 5
Faber still looks so spry in the fifth round, his conditioning is amazing, while Pulver looks weathered here. Faber is still on his toes, using great head movement to keep himself away from the famous left hand of Pulver. Pulver has probably lost every round and he knows it but he can’t seem to unload the left hand that he needs to end this fight. Faber is a little more conservative now backing up a lot, especially after a left hand snuck in. Both fighters have slowed considerably after a great war of a fight where both fighters have shown unbelievable ability. A takedown in the last thirty seconds secures it for “The California Kid.”

Miguel Torres defeats Yoshiro Maeda doctor Stoppage Rd 3

Round 1
Torres’s nose looks like it is bleeding early on in the fight from an early exchange. Torres always dangerous from the back, looked to lock up the arm but Maeda was able to escape and looks eerily calm and got out without too much issue to land a few Sakuraba style led kicks from the stand up on Torres. This is a great fight so far with both fighters landing, most of the fight is taking place in the standup position, and both guys are sluggin it out. This fight is a stark contrast to the McCullough vs. Alexander fight  with both fighters really going for it. Maybe the slightest of edges to Torres.

Round 2
This is an extremely exciting fight with both fighters throwing hard punches from all positions and is so close it is hard to call. Furious exchanges and Maeda is working on a toehold, and after a few moments Torres is working the toehold now as well while dropping heels down on Maeda from the ground. Before Maeda got the elbow. Torres almost secured a guillotine choke but Maeda was able to escape but got mounted in the process. From There Torres unloaded some nice elbows to finish very strong before the bell sounded to save Maeda.

Round 3
Torres is really establishing a strong jab marking up and swelling the right hand side of Maeda’s face which is starting to look bad while the left side is almost unmarked. Maeda seems to be slowing down a lot in this round possibly due to some of the punishment taken late in the second stanza. Maeda was able to take the fight to the mat and landed some solid shots but after going back to the feet Torres is controlling the stand up with jabs. Herb Dean stopped the fight on in between the third and fourth round due to the right eye being closed shut completely. What a great fight. 

Mark Munoz Wins by TKO due to strikes over Chuck Grigsby at 4:15 in the 1st round.

Munoz got in on Grigsby and secured the takedown early after one failed single leg attempt and went to work standing up over Grigsby’s guard. Munoz was eventually able to land some lunging punches to the face of Grigsby that took their toll on the stand up fighter. After looking rather awkward in the early going Munoz was able to land his overhand shots at will eventually securing  position and landing a salvo of unanswered shots to the head while Grigbsy went for a leglock to finish the fight at 4:15 of the first round.  

Rob McCullough Wins by Split Decision over Kenneth Alexander 30-27, 28-29, 30-27

Rob McCullough’s sprawl looked very good, but there wasn’t a whole lot of damage in the fight by either fighter. It almost looked like both fighters were a little hesitant to over commit to any offense and the fans in the arena let them both know it with their boos. After the first round McCullough had a small cut underneath his right eye but it didn’t appear to be an issue in a fight that looked pretty similar from round to round.

Alexander got off a little better in the second stanza securing a takedown and landing a nice uppercut but McCullough began to land the leg kicks with frequency and did so for most of the fight. Throughout the bout neither fighter was really able to assert themselves offensively and it was close bout throughout the contest but in the end it appeared that McCullough was able to do a little more damage, especially with the leg kicks to take the split decision. 

Donald Cerrone Wins by Submission (Arm Lock) over Danny Castillo at 0:30 in the 1st round

Cerrone looked extremely impressive off his back. Despite getting taken down off a missed strike early, Cerrone was able to work some nice transitional jiu jitsu before locking in a really slick armbar to force the verbal tapout.  

Mike Brown Wins by Unanimous Decision over Jeff Curran at 5:00 in the 3rd round .

Will Ribeiro Wins by Split Decision over Chase Beebe at 5:00 in the 3rd round .

Tim McKenzie Wins by Submission (Choke) over Jeremy Lang at 0:40 in the 3rd round .
