West Coast Fight Productions held their first Ground and Pound show in Portland, Oregon, where promoter Jeff Trago assembled an exciting card consisting of both amateur and pro bouts. Due to his inability to properly promote the fight the crowd was modest but, this in no way impacted the entertainment value of the event. The highlights was the women’s MMA bout where Tonya Evenger made her debut against Brittany Pullen in a lightweight bout. Evenger, who hails from Sacramento, CA, is a freestyle wrestler and member of the US Team. Evenger, had been working on her stand-up and this was demonstrated in devastating fashion against the under-skilled Pullen.

Cam Ward was also on the card where he fought Calvin Guilia from Hilo, HW. Guilia gave Ward all he could handle in the first round but, the more experienced Ward prevailed to capture the WCF World Light-weight Belt.

UFC veteran Eugene Jackson was on hand with amateur fighter, Raul Castillo. Castillo is a BJJ specialist and his skills were shown against the more inexperienced opponent. Jackson commented, “Raul is a young fighter with a monster ground game, and we have been training him aggressively on his stand-up at American Kick-boxing Academy. I wanted him to fight in some smaller shows, so he gets used to the crowd and what it’s like to be in the atmosphere. When he gets to the higher level, it won’t be such a shock to the system.”
