VICTORIA HOSTS NOV. 12 INTERNATIONAL KARATE TOURNAMENT VICTORIA More than 200 competitors from Canada and the United States are expected to compete in the ninth annual Victoria invitational Karate tournament Nov. 12 in Victoria, B.C. Carson Ebanks, MBE, secretary general of the Cayman Island Olympique Committee is expected to preside over the all-styles international tournament sanctioned by Karate BC, the sport governing body for Karate in British Columbia, and the Wado Karate Association of Canada. A multi-sport athlete and former Karate competitor and official, Ebanks competed in sailing in the 1976, 1984 and 1996 Olympic games. Also presiding over the daylong competition, which begins at 9:30 a.m. at Central Middle School, will be Karate Master and former world champion Greg Reid, 8th-degree black belt, chief instructor for CASK Karate Victoria and technical director of the Wado Karate Association of Canada both sponsors of the tournament.
