With a ferociousness and vigor of a rabid wolverine, MMA has risen from the ashes to become one of the hottest sports of this century.  From age old gladiator stories come the inspiration that might lead one into this new and exciting realm.  Many see opportunities as competitor, coach, manager, agent, sponsor etc.  The possibilities seem endless and increasingly diverse.  With this explosion comes opportunities for advancement in individual fields, and with the meteoric rise in popularity of the UFC comes advancements in boxing, wrestling, grappling, as well as many other contact sports.  The potential for success as an endeavour are excellent, and in areas where MMA as a sport are not accepted, the potential for success could be unlimited.

Ontario is such a place.

Love of fighting seems a mainstay of our culture.  It is born and bred into this society and with that comes the potential to do a lot of good for two distinct, different and currently clashing communities.  For many years we have lived in relative peace, with few minor altercations and events.  Land claims were not viewed as a large issue, until recently.  These problems are many, and should be left to be sorted out by our governing bodies, for that is what they have been empowered to do.  As for the rest of us, we should reach inside ourselves to find common threads, and with these threads mend the wounds that have erupted. 

There are many things that we share between our communities.  We share things like the love of our children, and family values.  We share love of life, and culture.  We share a willingness and desire to make a difference, to change our ways, to make life better through cooperation.  We share a strong sense that the path our communities seem to be heading in creates a bleak future for our future generations.  We believe that there is a need for change, and MMA fighting will be the driving force to bring our communities together.

Bill Monture shares such a vision.  Along with myself, James Procyk, we have decided to use the current popularity of MMA, to bring our communities together.  We look forward to the day when our communities can live in unity, and we plan on working together toward that goal.
