Heavyweights Roberts and Hamanaka Anchor Team Japan at November 5ths MFC 5: USA vs. Japan Six years ago, Englishman Alex Roberts traveled to Japan in search of the traditional fighting arts, and on November 5th, the heavyweight prospect will proudly represent the Land of the Rising Sun as part of Mixed Fighting Championship 5: USA vs. Japan live from the Trump Tal Mahal Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Roberts will be one of ten world-class athletes set to clash with a ready team of American counterparts-- all in MFCs continued efforts to bring its unique brand of international crossover competition to American soil. To represent Japan is a bit of an honor, says the 29-year-old Kujuken Kaikan kickboxer and # 4 ranked Pancrase veteran who now calls the country known for its rich martial arts history his home, but a fights a fight. And what a fight it will be: 64, 240-pound Roberts is set to square-off against Renzo Gracie purple belt and recent Team Quest addition Jay White. In the main event, light heavyweight Kazuhiro Hamanaka makes his U.S. debut head-to-head against American Top Teams Wilson Gouveia. Training out of the famed Takada dojo, Hamanaka touts a PRIDE victory over jiu-jitsu standout Nino Schembri in his steady rise through the Japanese ranks. Equipped to wage war both standing and on the ground, heavy hitting opponent Gouveia will certainly be a challenge. Also on the card, Philadelphias Fight Factory phenom Eddie Alvarez steps back into the MFC ring to continue his succession of damaging dominance. In his last two MFC appearances, Alvarez has brutally dispatched Japans Seichi Ikemoto and Russias Danila Veselov with his fast hands and superior showmanship. Battling it out for three rounds with lightweight star Rich Clementi at MFC 3, Daisake 13 Hanawaza will look to put an end to Alvarezs reign in the ring. Is he up for the task?
