Penticton -- In an era where small mixed martial arts events seem to be swallowed whole by the Zuffa juggernaut; King of the Cage Canada is seemingly thriving, as promoter Ken Kupsch and company promoted their second KOTC event in successive nights. After an admittedly poor event the previous evening in Edmonton, Kupsch was all smiles following an eight fight affair at the South Okanagan Events Center.

The main event pitted UFC and Bodog veteran, Bill Mahood , against mma gate keeper, Shannon "The Cannon" Ritch. As one would expect, this fight was a quick one sided affair. Early on Ritch attempted a spinning back kick, but lost his balance and ended up on his back. The blood thirsty Mahood was more than happy to oblige this blunder as he began to batter Ritch with powerful punches from within Ritch's open guard. It took all of one minute and two seconds for the Arizona native to call a halt to the action, as he verbally submitted from the onslaught. Ritch later told mmarr it was a body punch that knocked the wind out him, which caused the verbally submission as he feared a possible broken rib.

In the co-feature, UFC hall of famer, Dan Severn, entered to a massive ovation from the jubilant Penticton faithful. Although cleary slowed by father time the fifty one year old had more than enough to submit an overmatched, Sam Flood, in only his second mma fight. True to form, the Michigan native took Flood down, passed to side control, and looked for his patented key lock. Flood was able to break free and work back to his feet only to have Severn regain a front headlock position. After securing the front headlock the savvy veteran switched to a guillotine choke, which caused the newcomer to tap four minutes into round one.
The other two professional bouts on the card saw the muscular Matt Baker easily dispose of Jamey Dearman with a knee punch combo, and Rob Bastone submit Scott Chetman with an arm bar.
