The Kentucky Fighting Challenge returned to its home in Lexington, KY with another action packed night of  MMA action. The promoter, Jimmy MC, once again packed the Continental Inn with a solid 13 fight card of up and coming amateurs looking to make their mark in the ring. With only one fight that even made it out of the first round, there were plenty of KO’s and submissions to go around.

Jimmy MC, once again packed the Continental Inn with a solid 13 fight card of up and coming amateurs looking to make their mark in the ring. With only one fight that even made it out of the first round, there were plenty of KO’s and submissions to go around.

One of the more impressive fighters of the night had Lexington native Alan Browning taking on a game Branson Shumate.  Looking to leverage his standup skills, Browning landed solid right and surprisingly got the slam takedown on Shumate. Unable to defend himself, Shumate ate punch after punch before the referee finally stopped the fight early into round 1. Look for Browning to find himself on bigger shows and bigger fights in the very near future.

The fans in attendance were also treated to what was probably the fight of the night between the very evenly matched Jeff King and John Dillman in the 12th fight of the night. Dillman used his superior takedown skills to take down and control King on the ground where he landed punishing punches from the guard badly bloodying the nose of King. King was able to withstand the onslaught with the help of the referee, who stood up both fighters to check the nose of King. The stand up did not affect Dillman as he immediately got the takedown once again and continued his pounding. King worked for his submissions and came very close to locking in a guillotine choke, although he was unsuccessful he was able to eventually work his way back up and landed a solid right, but Dillman was unfazed and secured the third takedown of the fight. From there, Dillman worked his way to the mount and locked in an armbar as King tried to escape. Unable to get full leverage for the tap, Dillman found himself on the receiving end of multiple slams by King to get out and after escaping, King worked in the guard of Dillman and attempted a submission of his own, going for an ankle lock. Not to be outdone, Dillman went for an ankle of his own but neither fighter was able to finish as the round came to an end.

The second round did not last long as Dillman went to the well too often and after eating a few leg kicks from King, went in for the takedown, this time, King was ready and avoided the takedown. King quickly spun and took the back of the tiring Dillman and from there, it was just a matter of time before King locked in the rear naked choke, putting an end to the fight of the night.
