Ken Shamrock still one of the most recognizable names in the sport of MMA- tested positive for the anabolic agents 19-Norandrosterone, 19-Noretiocholanolone, and Stanzanol following his bout in the WarGods MMA event.
WarGods is actually a Ken Shamrock Production that he main evented against the relatively unknown Ross Clifton, defeating him early in the first round with an armbar to snap his own five-fight losing streak that began in the UFC.
Shamrock has only 3 victories in his last 11 fights, and could be on the brink of losing one of those. The California State Athletic Commission has overturned victories into no-contests in the past for positive drug tests so there is a precedent there. Nick Diaz tested positive for drugs of abuse in his bout with Takanori Gomi in Pride and his victory was officially overturned into a no contest.
Shamrock had been preparing to fight on a boxing / MMA hybrid card as the main event against former WWE athlete Bobby Lashley. It is unknown if this fight will still take place as Shamrock was suspended by the California State Athletic Commission through February 1, 2010. The fight was scheduled to take place on March 21 - less than 2 weeks away - at the Pensacola Civic Center. Shamrock does have the option of appealing the decision.
He was also fined $2,500.00
