Toby Imada shocked Jorge Masvidal with an inverse Triangle Choke to secure the right to face off against Eddie Alvarez for the tournament crown and the 100,000 dollar prize. Masvidal, who along with Eddie Alvarez were considered the favorites coming in, fell unconscious from the unorthodox submission hold that forced the referee to peel the legs off the limp fighter following the entertaining come from behind victory.
The highly anticipated Masvidal vs. Alvarez bout will have to wait, and while Alvarez will come in as the heavy favorite, Imada has proven that it isn’t over until it is over with the surprise finish of a fighter that is considered by many to be one of the top fighters in his weight class outside of the UFC.
