sherThe most anticipated bout of the night featured Eddy Ellis and Cedric Marks. Ellis is making a name for himself locally as a much improved fighter. He used his striking arsenal to full effect, using leg strikes to his advantage against Marks, who in his own right was a force to reckon with on his feet. Marks is blindingly quick and can deliver a punch that cripples and caught Ellis with a number of such strikes in the first round. His ground game is where his weakness truly revealed itself and Ellis with a long history of working under the tutelage of Dennis Hallman and Benji Radach capitalized on this advantage by taking Marks back late in the third round and securing the choke. Blake Fredrickson from Lance Gibsons gym pulled of an upset by getting the submission over the much favored Matt Lininger early in the first round. Fredrickson came out using his jab and caught Lininger with a right that allowed Fredrickson to move in for the takedown where he moved to his back and secured a submission via triangle guillotine choke to end the bout. The IFLs TigerSharks were present in many capacities; they were cornermen, referees, match-makers, and announcers. Maurice Smith took the mike amongst his team reinforcing the road that the Tigersharks were on, sharing that, great things are on the horizon for IFL. He also went on to say that some of the best fighters on the planet call the Pacific Northwest Home and he was looking forward to working with and training many more.
