New York, NY May 9, 2006 - Brian J. Diamond has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Sports and Specials for Spike TV. The announcement was made today by Kevin Kay, General Manager/Executive Vice President, Spike TV, to whom he will report.
New York, NY May 9, 2006 - Brian J. Diamond has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Sports and Specials for Spike TV. The announcement was made today by Kevin Kay, General Manager/Executive Vice President, Spike TV, to whom he will report. Mr. Diamond will continue to oversee sports and specials development and production, and will add documentaries to his portfolio. Brians innovation and creativity in Sports and Specials have led to some of our most successful partnerships, including our working relationships with The Ultimate Fighting Championship® and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling®, said Kay. His eye for successful programming will be crucial as we move forward in expanding our sports programming and helping our viewers Get More Action. Diamond, most recently Vice President, Sports and Specials, Spike TV, joined the network in 2004. As Executive in Charge of Production, his credits included a weekly baseball series, Maximum MLB, two specials with Sports Illustrated-SIs 20 Greatest College Basketball Players Ever and the NFL-SI 2005 Preview show and the debut of AutoRoxthe first nationally televised car awards show. Currently, Diamond oversees the production of all of Spikes MMA and wrestling programming including the hit series The Ultimate Fighter, the Ultimate Fight Night franchise and an assortment of the UFCs best fights in the form of a weekly series Unleashed, as well as Spikes wrestling property, TNA: iMPACT!. Prior to joining Spike TV, Mr. Diamond worked most recently as Senior Vice-President of Original Programming for Radio City Entertainment, a member of the Cablevision family. There, he oversaw the development of an electronic media strategy and the creation of original programming concepts while evaluating and expanding existing properties both digitally and electronically. Diamond began his television career helping to launch MTV in 1981 as a producer, where he worked on MTVs annual New Years Eve Rock n Roll Ball, coverage of two US Festivals, Live Aid, the first MTV Video Music Awards pre-awards and a variety of premiere events including Princes Under the Cherry Moon, Stings Bring on the Night and Pretty in Pink. His success at MTV led Diamond to be selected to a six-member startup team that launched MTV Europe, where he was Head of Studio Productions and, later, Director of Music Programming, Talent Relations and Programming Acquisitions. Diamond is a graduate of Adelphi University with a degree in Communications. He resides in Montclair, New Jersey with his wife and two sons.
