Bodog Fight is one of the heavy-hitters in the up-and-coming world of mixed martial arts. Created by Canadian billionaire entertainment mogul Calvin Ayre, the show offers viewers a unique combination of action and allure from exotic locations around the world.
September 4, Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat debuts on The Score with big brawls and small bikinis. Watch as 32 of the worlds most talented fighters converge on the sandy shores of tropical Tambor, Costa Rica for 16 epic battles.
Hall of Fame commentator Bob The Colonel Sheridan calls the action along side MMA experts Jeff Osborne and Paul The Mauler Lazenby. Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Royce Gracie also makes a guest appearance, offering special insight and analysis on the fights. The premiere episode, airing Tuesday at 9 p.m. and midnight EST on The Score, features four of the most exciting pound-for-pound fighters in MMA.
In the opening bout, 28-year-old Jake Shields (16-4-11) from San Luis Obispo, California takes on 27-year-old Ray Steinbeiss (8-3-0) from Tempe, Arizona.
Under the tutelage of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and vale-tudo fighting legend Cesar Gracie, Shields has emerged as one of the best in the sport.
Steinbeiss is an Arizona State wrestling champion, but will he be able to stop Shields powerful takedown and submission attempts?
In other action, 28-year-old Piotr Jakacynski (2-0-1) from Stockholm, Sweden faces 33-year-old Steve The Red-Nosed Pit Bull Berger (18-15-3) from St. Louis, Missouri.
With 37 pro-fights under his belt, Berger is a seasoned MMA veteran with the courage to match his nickname, although he admits to getting nervous before his fights.
I tend to feed off that nervousness and anticipation though, and channel it into positive energy, he says.
A stockbroker by day, Jakacynski is a pain broker by night, and the Swedish strikers stock is definitely on the rise. Once he steps through the ropes though, the only numbers hell be thinking about are one-two!
Dont miss Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat, airing Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 p.m. and midnight EST on The Score.
