MMA Ring Report would like to welcome the contributions of Mike Neva, he will be bringing us periodic updates on upcoming events from around the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Welcome to the first edition of "Around the corner," where well highlight a handful of the weekends upcoming mma events. Granted, these may not always be the most famous or prestigious events, but more of a; whats happening this weekend in the world of mma. Event name - Ultimate Cage Fighting Where - The Big Easy Concert House, in Spokane, WA When - Thursday, July 19 Time - 7pm Tickets - $20 to $50 Promoter Derek Cleveland will once again put on a Thursday night affair filled with local amateur fighters working there way up the ranks to compete in Clevelands pro event, Pride and Fury.
Event name - Palace Fighting Championship: Step Up Where - The Tachi Palace, Lemoore, CA When - Thursday, July 19 Time - 6:30pm Tickets - N/A After taking over for the Las Vegas bound, WEC, the Palace Fighting Championship has filled the Tachi Palace for their first two shows and this one should be no different. With a card comprised mainly of local talent, and lots of heavy hitters, the PFC should be an action packed event. Event name - King of the Cage: Battle at the Bowl Where - Lake of the Torches Casino, Lac Du Flambeau, WI When - Saturday, July 21 Time - 8pm Tickets - $50 - $165 King of the Cage heads to the Badger state for the first time, with an advertised main event that includes Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett. However, with Bennetts recent legal troubles it may not be a wise decision to throw down 165 hard earned dollars in hopes that Krazy Horse will be in the headline fight.
Event name - Invincible Fighting Championship Where - Ontario Convention Centre, Ontario, CA When - Saturday, July 21 Time - 7:30pm Tickets - $35 - $150 Although a full line-up, or even a main event, has been hard to come by; their past events have proven entertaining, including the inaugural edition of the Fatal Femmes Fighting. Event name - Hardcore Championship Fighting: Unfinished Business Where - River Cree Casino, Edmonton, AB When - Saturday, July 21 Time - 7pm Tickets - $50 - $250 In yet another case of "the main event fell through" the HCF may have a hard time filling the River Cree Casino with Joe Riggs vs. Dan Chambers as their headliner. Ron Waterman vs. Ricco Rodriguez #3 may have been captivating, but with Rodriguez unable to cross the border onto Canadian solid, this bout will obviously not happen. At least not on this fight card. Event name - Iowa Challenge Where - The Grand Theatre, Keokuk, IA When - Saturday, July 21 Time - 8pm Tickets - $20 - $30 For its 40th event, promoter Chad Bergmeier will bring one of Iowas longest running shows back to the Keokuk Theatre. With the likes of UFC vets, Ron Faircloth, Travis Fulton, Nate Schroeder, Dave Strasser, and Dan Severn, the Iowa Challenge has filled its previous cards with some solid talent.
