Fedor Emelianenko will make his second appearance on
American soil against Tim Sylvia at Affliction Banned, on July 19th
at the Honda Centre in Anaheim, California. Judging by their lineup, the clothing company
appears to be ready to lose money on their first event to get their foot in the
door and has an astounding lineup of fighters set to battle on their inaugural
show.
In addition to the main event, TUF 2 veteran Mike
Whitehead is scheduled to Fight another UFC castoff Renato Babalu Sobral,
Matt Lindland is set to fight Fabio Negao, Pedro Rizzo is set to rematch Josh
Barnett, and Ben Rothwell is also set to compete on the card. Rothwell is
rumored to be fighting Andrei Arlovski, however that fight is only speculation
at this point in time.
Mark Hominick vs. Savant Young, and Aleksander
Emelianenko vs. Paul Buentello, are other fights that are rumored to be on the
card. The interesting thing about this card is of most of the name fighters on
the card are former UFC fighters. Affliction appears to be looking at taking
the UFC head on starting with their fighters. The Affliction brand was once a
popular sponsor of UFC fighters but the brand was banned from UFC events once
the brass at the Ultimate Fighting Championship discovered that they were
interested in holding their own MMA events.
