The fighters weighed in for King of the Cage Island Pride as Nanaimo will welcome one of MMAs longest standing promotions back to the Frank Crane Arena for the third time.
Promoters Ken Kupsch and John Cooper have brought in one of Canadas best unknown MMA prospects in Rory McDonald, who will put his spotless 7-0 record on the line in the main event against the durable Elmer Waterhen who replaced original opponent Andrew Buckland. Despite the underdog role, Waterhen was confident predicting he will keep it standing up, and in the second round hopefully KO (MacDonald).
Promoter John Cooper also predicted a competitive outcome saying Waterhen will last "longer, than some expect and hopes that the walk up crowd will take a break from watching the NHL playoffs to enjoy live MMA.
The card also features local talent such as prospect Shawn Albrecht, Adam Zugec student Ryan Janes in his second MMA bout, and the Beefstorm Josh Spong who predicted a first-round finish saying his opponent"won't be able to handle the storm."
King of the Cage Island Pride will take place at tomorrow at the Frank Crane Arena at 7 p.m., tickets are still available.
