The event took place at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada and was broadcast live on Spike TV in the United States and Canada. The telecast drew a 1.5 overall rating in the United States. 

UFC 54: Boiling Point was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 20, 2005, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was broadcasted live on pay-per-view in the United States, and later released on DVD. Headlining the card were Chuck Liddell, the Light Heavyweight champion, and Jeremy Horn. 

UFC 53: Heavy Hitters was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on June 4, 2005, at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event was broadcasted live on pay-per-view in the United States, and later released on DVD. Headlining the card were Andrei Arlovski, the Interim Heavyweight champion, and Justin Eilers. 

UFC 52: Couture vs. Liddell was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on April 16, 2005, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was broadcasted live on pay-per-view in the United States and Canada, and later released on DVD. Headlining the card were the coaches of The Ultimate Fighter, Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell. At the time, it was the highest-grossing UFC event ever at the live gate, with $2,575,450 in ticket sales. The total fighter payroll for UFC 52 was $519,500.  

UFC 50: The War of '04 was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on October 22, 2004, at the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event was broadcasted live on pay-per-view in the United States, and later released on DVD. Headlining the card were Tito Ortiz and Patrick Côté. Côté was a late replacement for Lion's Den fighter Guy Mezger, who pulled out of the event due to a medical condition.  

UFC 49: Unfinished Business was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 21, 2004, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was broadcasted live on pay-per-view in the United States, and later released on DVD. It featured the anticipated rubber match between concurrent Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort and Randy Couture, following a disappointing doctor's stoppage in their last encounter at UFC 46. 

UFC 48: Payback was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on June 19, 2004, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was broadcasted live on pay-per-view in the United States, and was later released on DVD. The featured contestants of the evening were Ken Shamrock and Kimo Leopoldo, who had met once before in 1996 at UFC 8, with Shamrock reigning victorious. The total fighter payroll for UFC 48 was $586,000.
