KOTC 45 Review
MMA News Written by Mickey Suttiratana

The King of the Cage, a California based fight organization, made its way into south eastern Indiana last weekend to the Belterra Casino. With a solid 11 fight card, headlined by Travis Fulton and Shonie Carter, the King of the Cage looked to establish itself as a MMA leader in the Midwest region as well. Having just had a show in Dayton in late October the KOTC show looked to provide the lights, sound, and ring girls that have made the promotion so famous in the west. The show had an interesting mix of young guns and wily veterans, looking to prove that they belong in the Octagon. The fights went as follows..

It was only a short while ago that Carlos Newton was the only Canadian to have fought for a UFC title but with Georges St Pierre fighting for the Welterweight title and Patrick Cote fighting in the main event of a single UFC it seems that times they are a changing. Any way you cut it Canadian MMA has come a long way and it is only going to get bigger and better and UFC 50 "The war of 04" proved that. The ball continues to roll and It seems much is happening in the great white north so lets get caught up on all things Canadian MMA. -Arnold Lim-

UGC 9 Review

Last Saturday night, several hundred MMA fans were treated to an action packed night of fighting at the Medley in Montreal with UGC 9 : Extreme Adrenaline. The night featured 7 amateur boxing matches, 1 pro boxing match and 10 MMA bouts. We were entertained in this Club atmosphere with good D.J’s and attractive ring girls. One thing I would have appreciated in all this, was a place at ringside for the media, like most pro shows, instead, I had a good seat in the first row and was writing on my knees.

KOTC 42 Review

The King of the Cage production returned to the Ohio region for the first time since late February when it steamrolled into Canton, OH. Promoters Corey Fischer and Terry Trebelcock didn’t hold back and successfully recreated the atmosphere and excitement that normally surrounds a KOTC event on the west coast. A big screen teleprompter displaying all of the action, a laser light show, and a smoke machine all helped in creating the mood for the evening. Even with the major names pulling out of the event (Wes Simms, Brandon Lee Hinkle, Travis Fulton, etc.) there still was plenty of young guns looking to make their mark in the professional ranks of the KOTC to go around.

Here is a bit of UFC trivia. Which two MMA managers are the only managers to have two of his fighters fight in both the main events of a single UFC card? If you guessed Monte Cox as one of them you are right, he had both Dave Menne and Jens Pulver at UFC 35 but chances are you wouldn’t have guessed the second guy. If you guessed Stephane Patry you would be right
