8 Fighters announced for Total Elimination 2005

Eight of the sixteen participants have been announced for PRIDE FIGHTING’S 2005 Middleweight Grand Prix … TOTAL ELIMINATION 2005. Included is defending Grand Prix Champion (2003) Wanderlei Silva, the Brazilian Top Team’s Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Grand Prix Finalist (2000) Igor Vovchanchyn, Japanese hero Kazushi Sakuraba, Chute Boxe’s rising star Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Pancrase star Yuki Kondo, Grand Prix Semi-Finalist (2003) Hidehiko Yoshida, and Yoshida protégé Kazuhiro Nakamura.

TOKYO, Japan – Headlining PRIDE FIGHTING’S BUSHIDO VOLUME 6 card will be both Emelianenko brothers as heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko faces Japanese star and mixed martial arts veteran Tsuyoshi “TK” Kosaka and Aleksander Emelianenko takes on the 6’9, 270 pound Ricardo “The Mutant” Morais of Brazil. In addition is a four man middleweight tournament featuring Amar Suloev (Russia), Paulo Filho (Brazil), Dean Lister (USA), and Akira Shoji (Japan). The tournament winner must fight twice in one night … at stake, a slot in PRIDE’s 16-man Middleweight Grand Prix. Other fighters scheduled on the main card include Ikuhisa “The Punk” Minowa, Gilbert Yvel, Murilo Bustamante, and Daijyu Takase.

'Kohi' Defends Title; Kraus Shocks Buakaw at K-1 World Max Japan

TOKYO, February 23, 2005 -- Thirty-two year-old Takayuki Kohiruimaki fought his way past three challengers to win the World Max Japan 2005 at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo tonight. 'Kohi' picks up six million yen for the feat, and advances to the K-1 World Max 2005 Final, set for this May 4.

Stefan Leko versus Kazuhiro Nakamura has been added to PRIDE FIGHTING’S FISTS OF FIRE fight card. Representing team Golden Glory out of Holland, the German-born Stefan “Blitz” Leko is a world-class kick boxer. He has garnered numerous kick boxing titles and championships and is now making the transition to mixed martial arts. Kazuhiro Nakamura represents the Yoshida Dojo and is the protégé of Judo legend and 1992 Judo Olympic gold medallist, Hidehiko Yoshida. Thus far in his career, Nakamura boasts victories over the likes of Daniel Gracie and Murilo Bustamante.

Gideon Ray to replace Joe Riggs
It appears that Gideon Ray will replace Joe Riggs against David "The Crow" Loiseau. Gideon Ray trains under former UFC fighter Keith Hackney and has quietly strung together a solid record of 8-1-1. His only loss came at the hands of undefeated Miletich Martial Arts fighter Jason Black and the draw came against Brian Gassaway who trains with Shonie Carter. Ray is on a two fight winning streak and will see his first UFC action at UFC 51. He will be in against tough Canadian David "The Crow" Loiseau who trains with UFC welterweight contender Georges St. Pierre. -MMARR-
