TOKYO, October 12, 2005 -- On a card replete with elite talent, Dutch fighters continued their dominance of things K-1 as Andy Souwer and Albert Kraus both won at the K-1 World Max '05 in Tokyo. The one-match showcase event, held at the Yoyogi Olympic Complex, also saw impressive performances from Greek slugger Mike Zambidis and Lithuanian dynamo Remigijus Morkevicius.
HAMMOND, IN - On Saturday, November 19th, diehard fight fans will visit the pumps and pay good money to fuel up in preparation for a ritual trek from all corners of the Midwest to a common destination in Hammond, Indiana. Once again, the Hammond Civic Center will host the annual Ironheart Crown full-contact submission prize-fighting event, sanctioned by the International Shooto Commission based out of Tokyo, Japan. In this year's show, the recently established Shooto Americas chapter, covering North, Central, and South America, will crown its first-ever champions in the Lightweight and Featherweight divisions.

Last Friday, the Pierre-Charbonneau Center was home of TKO 22 in the beautiful city of Montreal. Once again, TKO proved why they are the number one promotion in Canada, handing out a very professional show, with a great level of talent Eight fights was a bit short, but it didn't finish too soon and the intermissions weren't too long. Hats off to Stéphane Patry! Here is my recap of the fights.

OSCEOLA, Iowa -- They left the sport for different reasons, but Jason Black and Rich Clementi will make their return on the same night... both looking to win Extreme Challenge championships. Black, who owns the sport's best record at 18-0-1, retired from the sport after beating Keith Wisniewski on Aug. 7, 2004. After getting married and starting a family, Black admits to missing the sport and returns to face Kyle Jensen (32-8) of River Falls, Minn., for the EC welterweight championship.
With all of the negative talk surrounding the MMA community over media bans, etc. it was nice to watch a show where money, fame, and fortune were not the main reasons the fighters competed. Instead, at the ICE show which is an amateur event, fighters fought for pride and for the chance to step inside the cage in front of family and friends and compete in the sport they love. Promoters Kerry Schall and Monte Cox brought the ICE show back to the Metropolis nightclub, offering local and regional amateur fighters this opportunity to compete.
