The Maximum Fighting Championship has set the lineup for MFC 12 – High Stakes with a hot matchup between two firefighters among the sizzling preliminary bouts slated for June 22 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton.

Gerry Johnson of the Edmonton Fire Department will make his MMA debut when he takes on Jason Biggeman of the Fort McMurray Fire Department in what is sure to be a hotly contested welterweight fight. These two follow in the footsteps laid out by Ryan Lawley, the Edmonton Police Service officer who entered the MFC ring at Unplugged 3.

Lawley was the first EPS member to fight in a sanctioned MMA event and his training regimen and passion for the sport were detailed in stories by Sportsnet’s Gene Principe and Neil Davidson of The Canadian Press. He was successful in a three-round unanimous decision and is scheduled to return to MFC action later this year.

Popular light heavyweight Sean Wright will make his second venture into the MFC ring as the local tae-kwon-do instructor matches up against Andrew Buckland. And Wright’s teammate, the heavy-hitting welterweight Kevin Dolan, has his eye on a second straight win in a contest against Jason Zorthian.

And the other highlight of the undercard sees the always exciting Josh Kyrejto, a former University of Saskatchewan football player and now veteran MMA fighter, taking on Dylan Walton. Kyrejto is coming off one of the most-action packed battles in MFC history at Unplugged 3 when he had a three-round epic against Brazilian ju-jitsu standout Garrett Curran.
