The Maximum Fighting Championship proudly presents the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” in the City of Champions. On Saturday, November 10, the ultimate icon of mixed martial arts and former UFC champion Tito Ortiz will be coaching a seminar from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Enoch Ballroom at the River Cree Resort and Casino. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for MMA athletes of all ages as they will receive hands-on, close-encounter guidance from one of the sport’s most colourful and accomplished fighters.

Ortiz has long been one of the sport’s most-recognizable names. He’s also consistently been one of the top draws in the UFC and in 2006 was deemed the hottest ticket-seller in the entire pay-per-view business Ortiz became the UFC’s first middleweight champion in 2000 when he defeated another of the sport’s most-famous names, Wanderlei Silva. He defended his title five times including his first of three showdowns with Ken Shamrock.

Shamrock and Ortiz would meet again in 2005 – this time as rival coaches on the UFC’s reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter. The coaches clashed throughout the show and eventually met face-to-face in the Octagon for the second time with Ortiz scoring a TKO victory albeit with a controversial stoppage.

The two rivals settled the issue once and for all in October 2006 with Ortiz winning in quick fashion once again. This fight headlined the UFC show in Hollywood, Florida, that also marked the successful debut of Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald – the first Albertan to compete in the UFC. Ortiz, who currently holds a professional record of 15-5-1, will be part of another reality TV show as he joins a celebrity cast on Donald Trump’s The Apprentice beginning in January.Ortiz will be available at various times during the seminar to speak with the media. He will also be traveling to Edmonton with his girlfriend, adult film star Jenna Jameson.

The Ortiz seminar will be followed by the Maximum Fighting Championship’s 3rd Celebrity Poker Tournament which will include Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald, MFC stars Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford and Ryan “The Kid” McGillivray, members of the Edmonton Eskimos, and other sports and media personalities.

The poker tournament begins at 5 p.m. and the proceeds go to the MFC’s charity of choice, Child Find Alberta. Registrations are now being accepted for the seminar by calling the MFC Ticket Hotline at (780) 504-2024. Don’t wait – like all the MFC shows this will sell out fast.

And don’t forget tickets are on sale now for MFC 14: High Rollers on Friday, November 23 at the River Cree Resort and Casino. Row 1 and Row 2 sold out in less than four hours and floor seats are over 75% sold. Call the MFC Ticket Hotline (780) 504-2024 or Ticketmaster (780) 451-8000 for your tickets.
