Jason MacDonald will return to the Maximum Fighting Championship against fellow UFC veteran Travis Lutter after ten fights, and almost three years away from the organization where he got his start.
Lutter, who holds the dubious distinction of being the first TUF winner to be cut from the UFC, will be looking to get back into action following over a year out of MMA - his last fight a loss to former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin at UFC 83 in April. Ironically the Texan will be making his return to action on Canadian soil against a cardmate on the aformentioned UFC card, but will the long layoff prove to hurt the talented jiu jitsu black belt?
MacDonald who has faced eight previous The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) veterans and a TUF coach, will face a winner of the series for the first time in the form of Lutter who hold's impressive victories over Patrick Cote, and Jose "Pele" Landi-Jons. In fact, "The Athlete" will be facing his fifth veteran of the Ultimate Fighter 4 previously having faced Rory Singer, Shonie Carter, Gideon Ray and Patrick Cote.
MFC 22 "Payback" will take place on Oct. 2, 2009 at the River Cree Hotel and Casino in Enoch, Alberta. |
