EDMONTON, AB - The Maximum Fighting Championship has signed Wayne Cole to step into the spotlight of a fight with Eric Big E Pele at MFC 16: Anger Management on Friday, May 9 at the River Cree Resort and Casino. Cole, who is riding a three-fight winning streak, replaces Gary Goodridge who was injured in training and suffered a back injury.
This is going to be an excellent fight, said Mark Pavelich, Owner/President of the Maximum Fighting Championship. Wayne is a tremendous athlete with a great background in wrestling and he has become well-versed in both striking and submissions Wayne is excited about this fight and Eric is very eager for the battle as well. This has all the makings of a dynamic heavyweight clash.
Cole (11-6), a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has won all three of his fights so far in 2008 and is coming off an impressive 45-second submission victory over Mike Kyle in March. Pele (11-4), a massive standup striker, is perhaps best known for his role on the A&E reality TV series Inked featuring the staff of Hart & Huntington in Las Vegas.
MFC 16: Anger Managements main event features a welterweight showdown between undefeated sensation Ryan 'The Real Deal' Ford and H.I.T. Squad member C.J. Fernandes, who is trained by UFC legend Matt Hughes.The fight card also showcases two unbeaten rising star light heavyweights as Jason The Show Kuchera squares off against Aron Lofton along with a clash between standout lightweights Ben Henderson and Mike Maestas.
