The Maximum Fighting Championship has added the always entertaining Ariel Sexton to their 155-pound lightweight roster. TheVancouver-born fighter is coming off a fight-of-the-night performance against Myles Merola at the Hardcore Championship fighting and will join a stable of MFC lightweights that include Fabio Holanda, Donald Sanchez, Jason Maxwell, Josh Russell, Mike Maestas and Ryan Heck.
Sexton, who now lives and trains with Team Ryan Gracie in Costa Rica, said "Fighting for the MFC will be a great opportunity for me. The organization is really going places. They have an impressive resume of achievements like their TV deal with HDNet and they have a lot of young up-and-comers like me so I think I made a really smart business decision signing with them, I want everyone to know who I am. I'm only one of two fighters of Costa Rican descent who are fighting internationally so this is my chance to make a name for myself among North American MMA fans."
MFC president and owner Mark Pavelich us also excited about the addition of the young fighter. "This guy is an absolute beast. He reminds me of the 155-pound version of Ryan Ford, only his jiu-jitsu is on another level. I'm so excited about signing him that I can hardly contain myself. I predict he'll be one of the two fighters fighting for my inaugural lightweight belt by the beginning of 2009."
Sexton who has only one loss to his record closed by saying, "I just finished taping "El Gran Peleado" (The Great Fighter) which was an MMA reality series in Costa Rica. I really can't say much about the show because it hasn't aired yet but I was very happy with my performance. My hard work is finally paying off. I'm looking forward to coming back to Canada to fight, though I don't miss the cold weather. I'm making my MFC debut in November. I want to go in and get an impressive win and then I'm going to concentrate on winning that belt.
