 EDMONTON, ALBERTA: April 4, 2008 - The King of the Cage returned to the West Edmonton Mall with "Brawl at the Mall 3" and hometown fighter Travis Galbraith was able to regain the light-heavyweight championship belt he lost from Nick Hinchliffe five months before. The bout was a quick one as both fighters tied up almost immediately to kick off the main event. Galbraith who was able to secure the front headlock position from the clinch, fastened his arms around Hinchliffe's neck, and eventually sank in a solid guillotine choke / neck crank combination that forced Hinchliffe to tap out in the main event of the night. Both fighters have notched a win over the other and it appears they are headed for an eventual rubber match to settle the score for good.
In heavyweight action the 265 pound Tim Hague landed a left hook that careened off the chin of Jared Kilkenny in the opening exchange of the fight sending his foe crashing to the mat. Hague followed him to the floor and landed a few more solid blows to the face of a prone Kilkenny before the referee had no choice but to step in and stop the bout at only 9 seconds of the first stanza. Hague retained his KOTC heavyweight title belt and returned to form after a uninspired loss in the HCF in Calgary.
In the fight of the night Nick Denis was able to score a come-from-behind victory over the very exciting Josh gallant at 3:14 of the second round. A flurry of punches and knees followed by a defining shot to the chin felled the game Gallant, putting him out of the fight for good.
The first round and the early portion of the second was very competitive with both fighters having their moments but Gallant was landing the defining punches stinging Denis a number of times. Denis returned the favor with a solid kick to the head but the 145 lbs champion appeared to be behind on the cards when he was able to do what champions do and find a way to win. He did so in impressive fashion and retained his 145 lbs belt in the process.
