West Edmonton Mall is one of the most popular entertainment centres in Canada, therefore, it is only fitting to have a MMA event with some of the most popular fighters in the country as well. Friday, April 4, 2008, King of the Cage Canada with Rockstar Energy Drink will bring to you a night of the most anticipated match-ups to date. The night will hold three title fights and a long awaited debut.
After the first loss of his career, King of the Cage Canada’s heavyweight champion, Tim “The Trashing Machine” Hague, is putting his belt back on the line against a very determined Jared “J-Rod” Kilkenny. Six foot four Hague looks to stomp out the controversy surrounding his first match with 7-3-0 Kilkenny who will be put to the test against Chris Peak on March 7, 2008 at KOTC Gold Rush in Prince George, British Columbia. Both of these fighters, though friends outside of the cage, have made it clear that business is business and promise a war.
In a match up of undefeated contenders 4-0 Nick Denis of Ronin MMA looks to retain his flawless record and the gold around his waist. However, in his path is 4-0 Shenk Tank product Josh Gallant. Denis’ last performance was fast and furious, and will definately look to utilize his reach to control Gallant but could face difficulty when attempting to match Josh’s incredible strength.
In a long awaited debut, King of the Cage is set to release its latest addition to the LHW division. Victor “The Matrix” Valimaki makes his return to the cage against a very experienced Bruce Nelson of North Dakota. Nelson will compete in the 40th fight of his career when he goes toe to toe with UFC veteran Valimaki. Both fighters are coming off of recent losses and have nothing to lose. Prepare for everything to be left in the cage.
The nights main event is HUGE, yet another title is hanging in the balance. He has proved himself over and over, shut down many critics and definately earned his spot at the top of a deep, to say the least, Lightheavyweight division. With a perfect 8-0 record, Impact Fight Club’s Nick Hinchliffe is ready to defend his title against Pride vet Travis “The Gladiator” Galbraith. This rematch is set to be one of the biggest fights of ’08. Tickets are availble now at Ticketmaster outlets, online or at Wild West Shooting Centre.
