 CBS and EliteXC announced that the next CBS ELITE XC SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS will take place at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, Calif. and be broadcast live on Saturday, July 26 9:00-11:00, ET/PT. There will be 4 fights on the live broadcast and will feature a main event of Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith in a rematch of the championship bout which took place on the first live CBS broadcast on May 31. The first bout ended as a no contest due to an inadvertent eye poke, but was widely considered the best fight on the card. They will come out of the shadow and will rightfully be the headlining fight on CBS’s second foray into the MMA fray.
In the co-main event, Jake Shields will face off against Nick Thompson for the vacant EliteXC 170-pound championship belt. In other action Stockton native Nick Diaz will not be fighting Karl James Noons, as many had hoped, instead he will face off against journeyman Thomas Denny. It appears that the Diaz vs. Noons fight will be saved for a future event.
