With a one-fight winning streak and a 1-1 UFC record, Brock Lesnar
was given a title shot in the biggest MMA event in the world. Following
the win, sporting a rather unimpressive 2-1 UFC tally, he is now the
heavyweight champion. How and why did this happen?

"Kill 'em! Let him have it... raaaawwwww..." the big guy in his early
20s yells from behind the gate of the beer garden, the fights haven't
even started yet. He then turns to his friend in the
two-sizes-too-small Affliction shirt and high-fives him, yelling
inaudibly and spilling beer.

The UFC light heavyweight class was turned on its collective head
with Forrest Griffin's victory over heavy favorite Quinton Jackson.
Anyway you look at it, the 205 lbs. weight class is the "money" division, and probably the most important division in the
UFC.

On April 19 the landscape of Mixed Martial Arts
in Canada will change forever. The Ultimate Fighting Championship, the
premier MMA promotion in the world, will have its event on Canadian
soil for the first time in history. The ink on 20,000 tickets barely
had time to dry before the home of the National Hockey Leagues
Montreal Canadians sold out, only hours after going on sale. If ticket
sales at the Bell Centre in Montreal are any indication, MMA is taking
Canada by storm.

With the resignation of Randy Couture it is difficult to imagine the
UFC without one of its biggest stars. Despite his age Couture remains
one of the top fighters on the planet and has done more in the sport of
MMA than most will ever dream of. Very few of the well known current UFC
fighters including current and past champions, can match the level of success Couture has acheived. Be sure of one thing, despite what
anyone will tell you his loss will be felt in the UFC, if in fact he does not return. However,
dont be so certain we have seen the last of Couture in the UFC.

Over a month has passed since Mirkos debut in the UFC 67. Ive seen almost 30-odd UFC shows, but this is the first time Ive seen so many Japanese press reporters. Chalk it up to the "star power" of Mirko Crocop. Any and all of their questions were directed to Mirko - not a single question about the UFC. In either case, not a second went by that the local press wasnt using to hound Mr. Crocop.
